1. Who We Are
MoreSkills is operated from South Africa. For the purposes of POPIA (the Protection of Personal Information Act), we are the responsible party. Contact our information officer at support@moreskills.co.za.
2. What We Collect
We only collect what we actually use:
- Email address when you unlock the free lesson, sign up, or buy a course.
- Name and role if you apply for the Pro tier.
- Payment details handled by Stripe and Yoco. We never see or store card numbers.
- Course progress (which lessons you've finished) so we can resume you correctly.
- Usage data (page views, clicks, device, country) via Meta Pixel and standard web analytics.
- Support correspondence when you email us.
3. Why We Collect It
- To deliver the course you bought and unlock content for paying customers.
- To process payments and refunds.
- To send you product updates, occasional marketing emails, and important account notices.
- To measure which marketing channels work and improve the site.
- To answer your support questions.
4. Cookies and Tracking
We use a small set of tools that drop cookies or local storage:
- Meta Pixel for ad attribution and conversion tracking.
- localStorage to remember if you've unlocked the free lesson, so you don't get re-gated.
- Stripe and Yoco for fraud prevention during checkout.
You can clear these any time via your browser settings. Disabling them won't break the site, but it may re-gate the free lesson.
5. Who We Share Data With
We don't sell your data. We share the minimum necessary with these processors:
- Stripe and Yoco for payment processing.
- Meta for ad measurement (via Meta Pixel).
- Our email service provider for sending course emails and updates.
- Hosting provider for serving the site.
Each of these is contractually bound to handle your data securely and only for the purposes we authorise.
6. How Long We Keep Data
- Account and purchase records: kept while your course access is active, plus 5 years for tax and accounting compliance.
- Email subscribers who didn't buy: 24 months of inactivity, then removed.
- Support emails: 24 months.
- Analytics data: retained per Meta and analytics provider defaults (typically 13 to 26 months).
7. Your Rights Under POPIA
You can ask us to:
- Access the data we hold about you.
- Correct anything that's wrong.
- Delete your data (subject to records we must keep for tax or legal reasons).
- Unsubscribe from marketing emails (every email has an unsubscribe link).
- Object to specific uses of your data.
Email support@moreskills.co.za with the subject "Privacy Request" and we'll respond within 30 days.
8. Security
We use HTTPS, reputable cloud providers, and least-privilege access controls. No system is perfectly secure, but we apply reasonable safeguards. If a data breach affects you, we'll notify you and the Information Regulator as required by POPIA.
9. Children
MoreSkills is built for adult professionals. We don't knowingly collect data from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has signed up, email us and we'll remove their data.
10. Changes To This Policy
We may update this policy as the business evolves. Material changes will be announced via email to active customers. The "last updated" date below always reflects the current version.
